The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the list of specimens and equipment to be used by School Candidates who have to write science practicals in the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The list below consists of specimens and equipment for Biology Practical. Schools approved for the exams are expected to use these to prepare ahead of this exam.
Please, take not that this is no way a form of examination malpractice as it was officially made available by WAEC. We have provided the specimens for preparation purposes only.
The WASSCE 2020 Specimens for Biology Practical are listed below:
WAEC Biology Practical Specimens 2020
Group I (For all candidates)
Specimen A: Clayey soil
Specimen B: A solution of one part of egg albumen mixed with two parts of water in a test tube/beaker
Specimen C: Mushroom (freshly plucked)
Specimen D: Giant land snail
Specimen E: Transverse section of ripe pawpaw fruit
Specimen F: Transverse section of ripe tomato fruit
Specimen G: Fresh pod of cowpea plant
Specimen H: Complete, green pod of Pride of Barbados plant
Specimen J: Fresh okro fruit

Group II
Specimens under group two are for candidates in Ghana only.
Group III (For candidates in Nigeria and the Gambia only)
Specimen P: Potassium permanganate solution
Specimen Q: Granulated sugar (100g) in a beaker
Specimen R: 5-day old boiled egg with shell intact stored in a warm place/rotten egg with shell intact
Specimen S: 10 ml of lime/lemon juice in a test tube.
Note:
(i) All specimens can be provided as group specimens for five(5) to ten(10) candidates.
(ii) All specimens in each group must carry individual labels (Eg A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and J n Group I).
