World record sprinter Usain Bolt has high hopes in a trial with the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. There will "decide what is going on with my career," said the eight-time Olympic champion in the interview of the British tabloid newspaper "Daily Express".
The 31-year-old had previously stated that he aspires to a career as a professional football player, for which the BVB should be his springboard. "If they say I'm good and need a bit of training, I'll continue", Bolt said.
However, the Jamaican wants to play for his favourite club, the English record champions Manchester United. He also hopes for the support of a former coach of the Red Devils. "I've already talked to Alex Ferguson and told him to put in a good word for me", Bolt revealed. "He said when I'm fit and ready, he'll see what he can do". Bolt, who had to break off his last race in the summer due to an injury, said he was back in top form.
How serious Bolt means with the career in professional football is unclear. But he has already planned his "career entry" at BVB for next March. BVB Marketing Director Carsten Cramer said in the training camp of the Dortmund in Spain, however, that the planned trial training was "not yet scheduled".
