A section of the magnificent Trump Tower, the private home of the incumbent United States President Donald Trump and his family, in New York has been gutted by fire.
Two people were slightly injured on Monday, as the fire department announced. According to TV station Pix 11, an engineer inhaled smoke and a fireman was hit by falling debris.
Recordings by TV broadcaster NBC showed around a dozen firefighters on the roof of the skyscraper and a lot of smoke rising from an opening.
According to Trump's son Eric, who has been running his father's business since his presidency with Brother Don, the fire broke out in a rooftop cooling tower. The fire department responded within minutes and did an excellent job.
The fire had not spread to the inside of the building, reported "Pix 11", citing the fire department. According to police, the Trump Tower was not evacuated.
Donald Trump was not in the building on Fifth Avenue in New York at the time of the fire. The native New Yorker had moved to his swearing about a year ago in the White House in Washington, his wife Melania and son Barron followed in the summer.
The Trump Tower is next to Trump apartment, numerous other luxury apartments and shops.
