The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 4 Competition Winner, Rivers United FC are set to play a second tune up game tomorrow (Monday, 19th December, 2016) at Ciudad Deportiva Valenciana in the Spanish pre-season's tour. The first game took place at the same venue on Wednesday against Villarreal FC Team B. Guy Kuemian goal in the first half of the encounter gave the NPFL club victory over their host.
It is an eye catching fixture in anticipation at the Spanish city of Paterna tomorrow as Stanley Eguma's Rivers United FC take on CD RODA FC in a warm up clash ahead of CAF Champions League, as well as, 2016/2017 NPFL League season.
CD Roda FC are currently occupying the third position on the log of Spanish Amateur League with Villarreal Team B occupying the top spot.
Having stayed in Spain for five days and the players fully comfortable with the weather in Paterna, the Rivers United squad that embarked on the tour are hopeful that they can repeat their match result of Wednesday, 14th December, 2016.
A victory on Monday will serve as a good source of morale-boosting for the players who have to come back to Nigeria on the 22nd of December, 2016 and get set to start playing in competitive matches. They will be involved in three major competitions, that is, the CAF Champions League, NPFL League and the Federation Cup.
According to the Rivers United FC board chairman and the Rivers State commissioner for sport, Honourable Boma Iyaye, the "Pride of Rivers" are in Spain to learn and copy the football culture that is centred on maintaining a winning streak and having the winning mentality clearly written down as one of the club's philosophies.
