The Indigenous telecommunication outfit Globacom Nigeria (GLO) is a major reason why we have cheap subscription for mobile phone plans and services especially in the provisions of affordable internet services and low tariff plans for youths.
GLO has contributed immensely since the introduction of Blackberry Internet Services (BIS), as well as, Android phone data plans. Mobile users and internet freaks stay up to date in respect to cheap data plans given by the company. The services are used in different sectors such as betting centres, cyber cafes, etc. Businesses are boosted due to the reliability of the network.
The introduction of three (3gb) gigabyte GLO BIS data plan brought about the popularity of the phone plans and services provided by the company. The plan was affordable to all internet users. Consequently, both Blackberry users and Android users were able to surf different webpages. Android users used this GLO BIS by changing their phone's IMEI to a Blackberry IMEI.
Early November, 2016, Etisalat Nigeria announced the discontinuation of its Blackberry Internet Service plans. And now, GLO has followed in the same pattern.
The GLO BIS discontinuation only applies to users of older version of Blackberry phones. Likes of the blackberry bold series, curve series, torch series, etc are affected by the new development. However, users of BB10 series will continue to enjoy internet surfing with the normal GLO data plans.
It should be noted that all GLO data plans could be used to surf all the apps in BB10. But before it works, certain configuration must be made. Therefore, the tested and recommended GLO data plan for Blackberry 10 users are GLO internet plans that are usable on Android and virtually every other device. This is activated by changing the APN to gloflat or glosecure and you are good to connect to the internet with your BB10.
