Hence, they suddenly put up a resolute battle which helped them to equalized moments later after Festus Austin, under pressure, bundled the ball from Xisco Nadal strike past Abiodun Akande in goal for the "Pride of Rivers". The score stood at 1 - 1 after first half of the friendly match.

CD Roda resumed the second half of the game with a promising attacking style of play. This was quickly followed by a reward when Charly Grace Garcia smashed the ball into the back of the net to put his side one goal ahead of Rivers United FC in the 51st minutes of the game.

The NPFL club side stepped up their game and began to take advantage of the encounter. This paid off immediately when Godbless Asamoah's stunner gave Eguma's team a 2 - 2 scoreline.

A game noted for both physicality and counter attack produced the fifth goal when Nzube Anaezemba scored for Rivers United FC to give the Nigerian club a lead for the second time in the match.

Rivers United FC could not hold off the pressure from CD Roda in the dying minutes of the contest. This leads to Ricardo Gomez popped up to plunder a barely-deserved equalizer for the home team to left the tie 3 - 3 on the scoreboard.

However, the result have shown that Nigerians should expect something positive from Rivers United FC in the forthcoming CAF Champions League.
