Akpabio's Arrest By EFCC - A Claim That Needs Questions For Clarity

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West,  Sen. Godswill Akpabio, was reported to have been arrested by the EFCC.
The Senate Minority Leader said yesterday that he visited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission voluntarily. He stated that the commission had invited him a long time ago before his accident in FCT and he told them that he was going to come whenever he is fit. In line with this, he went there on Friday to respond to the allegation that they said a young lawyer wrote against him.

Akpabio emphasized what he had told the EFCC concerning the allegation. He stated that after he had finished with his response, he was allowed to go and admitted on bail. This is in line with EFCC procedure, so it was not a function of an arrest.

Akpabio's message to the citizens of Akwa Ibom State on the matter is quoted below:
"I just want to urge all my people in Akwa Ibom State who probably were disturbed to know that such monies were not missing from the coffers of the state, that is the simple truth and if we had such additional sums as he mentioned, we would have done more than what we put in place for the state".
