JAMB Sets 160 As Cut-off Mark For 2019 Admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, 2019 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria has approved 160 and above as the national minimum mark for admission into public universities in the 2019/2020 session.

The meeting held at Bola Babalakin Auditorium, Gbongan, Osun State, on Tuesday also approved 140 as minimum UTME score for admission into private universities.

public polytechnic, 120 UTME score was approved, while 110 score was approved as the least score for admission into private polytechnic.  A UTME score of 100 and above was approved as the cut-off marks for colleges of education.

The 2019 Admission process has just begun and schools will begin to announce sales of forms for their Post-UTME, as well as, fixing dates for admission screening exercise. The time to start your preparation is now. Get your O-level result and other requirements for admission ready, and revise your past questions as usual, because some tertiary institutions will administer post-utme test.

Mr Oloyede, however, said admission into all universities would be conducted on Central Admission Processing System.

According to him, JAMB is not responsible for the fixing of cut-off marks for tertiary institutions but rather a consensus between the institutions and stakeholders at the policy meeting.

Mr Oloyede, however stated that institutions cannot fix cut-off marks below what the stakeholders decided at the policy meeting.

Let's have your comment on the approval of cut-off marks of 160 and 140 UTME scores for public and private universities, 120 and 110 for public and private polytechnics respectively, and 100 for colleges of education.
