How To Connect Your TV To The Internet

Getting your television connected to the internet and using the facility requires a limited number of steps and a download of an app. As a matter of fact, most surfers who have successfully setup this innovation in their TV have benefited tremendously. They can now view online articles on larger screen.

Your smartphone and Universal Serial Bus (USB) are required to activate internet in your television. Recall that I have published a post on the use of Android Smartphone As A Remote Control For Your Smart TV.

Using your smartphone to setup the internet on your TV shows that it performs multiple external functions other than the internal function of calling, texting, surfing, playing games, etc.

Steps To Connect Your TV To The Internet:

To have internet on your TV, you have to carryout the following steps:

1. Install Chromecast: Chromecast is a device launched by Google to turn old TVs into smart TVs with the help of a smartphone for the task. Click on install to install it and make your initial settings.

2. Connecting Your Chromecast To Your TV's HDMI Input: Connect your Chromecast to the TV's HDMI input and use your USB cable with the charger to turn it on. On the mobile phone, download Google Home in Google Play Store or in Apple App Store for Android and iOS systems respectively.

3. Connect To WiFi Network: With the app installed, it is recommended that you connect to a Wi-Fi network before you configure it to avoid errors or other problems. Once you have made the connection, open Google Home and touch "Get Started".

4. Select Google Account: Select the Google account you use on your mobile phone and click "Ok". Wait for Chromecast to be detected and then tap "Yes" when you proceed, grant the requested permission. If you have more than one device option, check the code displayed on the television and select it from your phone.

5. Connect Your Phone With Chromecast: Wait for the connection between your phone and Chromecast to be completed, this process may take a while. If the code that appears on both devices is the same, click "Yes" and then "Accept".

6. Select WiFi Connection: Select the room in your house where Chromecast is and the Wi-Fi connection to use. Check the option to save the setting and touch "Ok". On the "Link to Chromecast" screen, click "Next" and "No thanks." Finally, confirm the settings you made by tapping "Continue".

Now, just take advantage of the device to use applications like Netflix or YouTube that support the "Broadcast" feature and watch your favourite TV shows and movies. Chromecast can be found in Nigeria with prices starting at N17000.
