Heartbreak For APC As Udom Gathers Preponderance In Supreme Court

There are tensions in every nooks and crannies of Akwa Ibom State. Followers of the two highly competitive political parties in Nigeria; the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), are patiently listening to radio, television channels and any other informative media. They are expecting either a good news or a bad news. Good news being that their candidate will be victorious in today's night ruling by the Supreme Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and the bad news being that he failed to win.

Governor, Udom Emmanuel of the PDP is said to be the favourite to win today's court case.

Obong Umana Okon Umana, the candidate from APC, had been favoured by the Appeal court sitting in Abuja when the 2015 Governorship Election in all the Thirty-one (31) Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State was nullified by the Election Petition Tribunal.

Governor Udom had filed an appeal to the Supreme Court alleging that the election tribunal at the Appeal Court lacked evidence to arrive at the said judgement. Prior to the judgement on nullification of the election was a former judgement in which elections in Eighteen (18) Local Government Areas of the state were cancelled.

However, it is believed that fairness and impartiality will be utilised by the Supreme Court to carry out the judgement. Meanwhile, let us pray for a favourable outcome and also for peace in Nigeria.
